I Have Blocked People Before
This week I received two comments on a recent article that made me feel uneasy. The first one was rude and the Medium member’s name was offensive.
My curiosity got the better of me and I checked the profile. It was laden with profanity and innuendos that made me uncomfortable. The articles were obviously provocative. I understand that there is a platform for this. It’s just not for me. I’m probably a bit over sensitive, but confrontation of any kind makes me nervous and anxious. So, I blocked them.
The second was a blatant advertisement for a coaching company. It was well written but a bit pushy. I’ve received the same message twice and it’s obviously an ad campaign. That is not why I’m on Medium. I asked them not to comment on my articles with an advert. They did anyway and so I blocked them.
Feeling Safe
I want to expand my tribe here on Medium because the people I’ve met thus far, are amazing. I love reading your articles and replying to your comments. It’s the highlight of my day. So, when I see an offensive or unfortunate comment, it’s disappointing.
