Why I Craft and Upcycle with Recyclables

Crafting with items that might otherwise go to a landfill is my way of recycling creatively. Some items become keepsakes like my junk journals. Other things get reused at least one more time.

Getting Out of My Comfort Zone

It’s so easy to rush out and buy supplies. It’s convenient. It’s easy. I don’t have to think too hard.

That’s the problem though.

Buying a craft item such as a sticker, washi tape, decorative paper is exciting. It’s pretty. It looks great on my projects, but I can make so much myself.

Our food and gas prices have gone up at a concerning rate but so have other things like clothes and craft supplies. I craft on a strict budget which is why making my own supplies is so beneficial.

I want to be as environmentally friendly as I can while still doing what I love.

Challenge My Creativity

By finding ways to repurpose random items, I’m challenging my creativity. I’m forced to think outside the box.
